Recipes so Easy Even a Caveman Could Make Them: Primal RBS (Roast Beef Sandwich)



Need something portable and pack-able for work, school, or on the road?  A primal RBS is just what the doctor ordered!

Ingredients:

2 leaves cabbage (green, red, napa, etc.) or 4 leaves butterleaf lettuce (doubled up)
2 radishes (thinly sliced)
Fresh horseradish root (about 1 tsp grated)
1/4 of a fresh avocado (mashed)
5-6 slices (4-5oz) rare roast beef (I prefer Boar's head all-natural or Applegate Farms)

Step 1: Foil
Trust me, you do not want a soggy RBS floating around your lunch pail.  Use foil and recycle it by folding it up and reusing it the next time you make an RBS if you're concerned about waste.

 


Step 2: Towel
Paper towel that is.  Another essential step; otherwise you will have blood from the roast beef seeping through the foil.  Primal yes, but also gross.



Step 3: Layer
Put down your cabbage or lettuce leaves, and roast beef.  




Step 4: Topper
Add your mashed avocado and grated horseradish and spread the mixture out to the edges of the roast beef. Spread the radish slices out in an even layer over the avocado mixture and top with the remaining cabbage or lettuce leaf.







Step 5: Tight like a tiger.
Bring the corners of the aluminum foil to the center then bring the new corners to the center.  Curl up the remaining extra space to make a nice and tight.




Step 6: Have RBS, will travel.
Now that your Primal RBS is ready to go you can throw in a few pieces of tamarind for dessert and you'll be the cool caveman at your employee cafeteria.
