Caveman Cuisine: Brats and Kraut

Da Brats go well wit da beers and da Bears.

1 package bratwurst sausage (approximately 6)
12oz Sauerkraut (home-made or quality store bought)
Yellow mustard
1 bottle beer (we used PBR)
1/2 white onion (sliced)
2 tbsp butter
6 medium tomatoes

Fill a medium pot 1/2 full with water and beer. Bring to a boil and add brats. Let them cook for 5-10 minutes. Remove them to a paper towel covered plate to dry.

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add onions and saute for 5-10 minutes or until they begin to caramelize. Turn the heat down to low and add the saurkraut. Stir the mixture and cover.

Finish the brats on a hot grill or in a frying pan.

Serve the brats with warm sauerkraut, mustard, and fresh sliced tomatoes.

Yield: 3 hearty servings (AED not included) (Just kidding, we all know dietary fat in the absence of of excess dietary carbohydrate isn't a risk factor for the development of CVD)
