Sunday Poetry Corner: Rainy Day Bike Ride

Riding my bike into the rain,
Wet, hot city streets smoke ozone,
Sending sickly sweet smells into the air.

Riding my bike into the rain,
My skin soaks to the bone and spinning car tires spit in my face,
Fat droplets sting and mix with sweat.

Riding my bike into the rain,
I stand on two wheels with a smile on my face,
Wrapped in the humid hug of afternoon love.

Riding my bike into the rain,
Because behind the clouds are clear blue skies.
